MISTER POPULAR.
pairings: fiyero tigelaar x male reader
summary: a love story blooms when fiyero does a simple act of kindness by helping a fellow peer out.
requested by: me ;)
word count: 1,618
mentions: strangers to friends, flirting.
He was the most sought-after guy at Shiz University. He had practically all the girls all over him aswell as the majority of the guys, whether they would willingly admit it or not. Because of his popularity status and your lack of time, he never really noticed you or even looked your way...atleast that is what you thought. You hadn't said one word to him during your first semester at Shiz but you had completely fallen head over hills for him, and you were now too far gone. So what if he was completely full of himself and possibly a bit of a snob? You could tell it was all just an act, but somehow no one else could cause they weren't looking at him for who he was they were looking at him for how he presented himself.
You were running through the Shiz University halls one fateful day as you woke up late, completely sleeping through your personalised ozian alarm clock. You are speeding through until you trip on someone's banana peel skidding across the floor and all your textbooks going flying. You swiftly get up off your face, and you begin picking up all of your books, praying that no one had seen this horrifically embarrassing moment. In the corner of your eye, you see someone strut over and kneel down to give you their hand as you manage to gather all of your textbooks off the floor. You take the kind gentlemen hand and you look up to thank him until you turn a bright shade of red when your eyes meet with Fiyero's.
"F-Fiy..." You try to stutter out, but his name won't leave your mouth. He shakes your hand. "Fiyero Tigelaar," he says confidently as he takes some of the textbooks from your grasp, "you do know we don't have class today.. right?" He says softly as he begins walking back to the dorm area of Shiz. You immediately begin following next to him, practically lost for words that he would even look your way, let alone help you out. He stops outside your dorm room and turns around to face you, "keys?" He asks in a soft tone your eyes meet with his for a moment until you break the gaze and hand him the keys. "Wait... how did you know -" You begin talking for a moment before Fiyero cuts you off, walking inside your bedroom and dropping your books down on your desk, causing a big thud.
This was just the beginning for you both. Over the course of a couple of weeks, Fiyero began to capture little cute moments of you with his Shiz camera that he stole from the photography section of the Univeristy. He still hadn't caught on to the fact that you were in love with him. You tried not to focus on how you felt about him cause simply that this was just enough. His acknowledging you was everything you ever needed. He had a surprise for you that had your stomach in knots thinking about what it could entail. He had his thick veiny hands on your shoulders as he had you blindfolded walking through some sort of grassy area. You could tell by the feeling of the tall grass against your legs.
The feeling of the grass against your legs stopped as you step forward once more, "are you ready" he whispers in your ear feeling his hot breath against your ear made your body shudder beneath his touch, he doesn't understand what he does to you. "I-Im ready," you stutter out nervously as Fiyero practically pulls you down onto some sort of velvety blanket. Light blesses your eyes as he unties the blindfold once it's finally dropped off your face. The first thing to grace your sight is Fiyero..his beautiful blue orbs, the ones that captured you originally were staring right into yours. A small smile on his face as he pulled away from your face, revealing a picnic he had set up for you, away from Shiz University.
Your eyes fill up with tears, and Fiyero immediately leans over the food to get closer to comfort you, "d-did I do something wrong?" He says in a worried tone, but you just laugh through your tears, shaking your head. "No! Not at all, just... no one has ever made me feel like this before." You stutter out as Fiyero's smile brightens you up again as he gently rubs your shoulder sitting down properly again. "I like this spot...it's so quiet and away," Fiyero says in a soft tone as he takes a strawberry and bites it. He looks out into the beautiful corn field ahead of us seeing the Scarecrow that watches over the crops. He brings the half eaten strawberry to your lips. "Take a bite," he says in a soft, quiet tone.
You lean forward slightly, taking a bite out of the same strawberry he has been eating, the mixture of the strawberry with a small portion of his spit was to die for. This is the closest you'll get to kissing him is what ran through your mind, the closest you'll get to tasting him. You swallow the strawberry after savouring the flavour for a strange amount of time but not enough for it to cause Fiyero to become concerned. He watches the way your face fills with pleasure as you swallow the strawberry. He softly nibbles his lip, watching you. You both ate like kings and packed up everything, "sad this is over," you say to him as you turn to face Fiyero. He turns his head slightly to look down, "Don't worry... who says I'm not planning another picnic as we speak." He says as confidence practically drips off him.
You begin walking through the tall, tall grass, feeling it brush against you both. The sun shines on you both perfectly as you stop to face it, this is the moments that are in all those romantic books you read. Golden hour covering your faces, amongst nature and a gentle breeze blowing your hair perfectly. You both lock eyes and Fiyero subconsciously puts his picnic basket on the floor without breaking the eye contact, the tension between you both would be able to be cut with a knife. Fiyero's hands connect to your cheeks as his thumb rubs your smooth supple skin he leans down slightly and connects your lips together.
The world was spinning, all the stars has aligned. You had never felt his fire inside of you before as Fiyero's lips connected to yours, you get up on your tiptoes and wrap your arms around his neck pulling his lips closer to yours. Your bodies pressing against one another, the kiss passionate and beautiful. Fiyero pulls away softly to meet your gaze as a strip of spit still connects your lips, a faint blush crosses over both your cheeks. "Fiyero..." You mumble out in a soft tone as you take his hands, a panic stretches visibly across his face as he pulls away "uh-" is all he can mutter out "sorry I've got to go!" He blurts out in a panic as he scoops up his basket and runs off through the tall grass back to Shiz University.
You eyes follow him as he runs off in a panic, the sun begins to set and the grass darkens as you stand there still frozen in shock about the whole thing. You had the best and first kiss of your life and then Fiyero panicked and ran off, you slowly walk back to Shiz, slumped over and shy you walk back to your dorm room to find that your door is already unlocked and open, your eyes widen as you slowly walk inside. "F-Fiyero?!" You say in shock as he sits there on your bed with tears streaming down his face, "I'm so sorry!" He repeats himself over and over again between sobs as he stands up to walk over to you, you pull him into your warm embrace "shh...it's okay" you whisper to him aswell as sweet nothings to try and calm him down.
Fiyero snuggles his face against your neck, leaning down to make sure he can. His tear soaked face soaked your neck, you slowly manage to sit you both down on the bed where you comfort him and he tells you why he ran off. "I wasn't expecting us to kiss... I didn't even know I liked- ... I can't say it" he says nervously and embarrassed, you softly smile at him as you take in what he's just said as you gently caress his arm, your hand gently wipes a tear from his cheek. "You don't need to label yourself, just...like who you like" you whisper softly to him as his eyes lighten up slightly and his sniffles quiet down. His hand gently caresses your cheek once again like when you were both in the tall grass, "y/n..." He says in a quiet voice "I...like you" he mumbles out softly as his thumb traces along your bottom lip.
"I've liked you for a while now Fiyero" you openly confess to him as he leans in and gently pecks his lips against yours, both pulling away and smiling softly at eachother. Fiyero pulls you into his warm embrace as he gently caresses your cheek and then running his hand through your hair. "Can we stay like this?" You say softly to him as your face is in his chest as he lays back against your bed, "yes...I'd like that" he say to you as he closes his eyes and enjoys knowing that you there for him, enjoying your warmth, enjoying your presence.

with all the power in oz
movie!fiyero x gn!reader, 2.2k words summary: the reader, rather anxious and studious, finds their self head-over-heels with none other than fiyero, supposed boyfriend to galinda upland. to placate this, they somewhat agree to meet him at the ozdust ballroom. a/n: YOU pronouns are used to address the reader, but there is no usage of y/n. just watched the movie today. tried to find a fic, couldn't. here I am writing one instead. reader worries a lot. so me. you're welcome. also, I'm going into this blind. I have unfortunately never seen the actual musical (downsides to living in the middle of nowhere) so I'm only going off based on wikis and the movie. it should be gn as I read through it like... five different times, but please let me know if I missed something!
Breathtaking. That's what he was. But could you truly refer to a man like him as breathtaking?
The very features that graced his face were absolutely mesmerizing, and you felt like a fool watching him at times. How could you not? He seemed so full of life, so full of... well, not a care in the world, really. It was as if he brushed everything off of his shoulders without hesitation.
You could only wished you were the same way.
No cares, no worries. How lovely that would have been.
No, you hold onto the things that happen to you as if you have no other way to live. You hold grudges, you think over things that happened years ago that no one could possibly remember.
For someone who wished to be a sorcerer, you had a hard time simply letting things go. Your emotions often got the better of you, even when you knew better. Even when you wished it could be the opposite. But perhaps that was the way of the world.
Not a man in Oz could tell you otherwise.
Books in hands, you crossed the path to your dormitory, brows cinched together in mild concentration.
You had a project in your history class, and an extensive paper to complete on the study of mathematics—of all the things you could have had, a paper in mathematics. You'd rather perform magic in front of the entire student body, but you couldn't.
As you walked, you heard your name come from behind you. Eyes flicker back, a soft frown on your lips. You see him—Fiyero. The one fool you meant to avoid with all the gumption within you.
You'd melt just being near him.
"Fiyero," you softly greet.
He gave you a charming smile, coming up to walk with you. "Heading back already?" he asked.
"I am."
"Working on the project, hm? We could work on it together if you'd like. I'm sure our minds could do wonders," he said, a playful wink coming from him.
"I'm fine," you simply said.
He blinked slowly, but his smile never wavered. "Come now," he said, your name leaving his lips rather sweetly. "Surely you're not going to spend the rest of your evening alone. Why don't you come to Ozdust tonight?"
You looked back at him, frowning. "Ozdust. Me. I don't think so, Fiyero."
"And why not? I'm sure you'd be as dashing as ever."
You stopped in your steps, eyes searching his for but a moment. "Dashing. Are you in earnest, Fiyero?"
"Yes," he said, smiling.
"And what of Galinda? You'll be with her. Why invite me?"
"She doesn't need to know. It's not her business," he said. "Besides, she will be busy with Elphaba. I'd much rather spend time with you."
"And I think you're just pulling my leg," you said defensively. You crossed your arms over your chest, careful to keep your books close.
"Pulling your leg? I haven't even touched you," he said, a cheeky grin on his lips. "Come now, don't play coy. You should come."
"And if I do?"
"Then I'll be quite happy."
You rolled your eyes and went to walk away.
A hand wrapped around your bicep, and you paused, glancing over your shoulder at him.
His eyes widened a bit and he dropped his hand, albeit hesitantly. Perhaps he didn't think he would actually reach out to you. He cleared his throat.
"I really would like you to be there. You'll have the time of your life."
"The time of my life," you repeated. "I don't think you realize how much I dread parties."
"Have you ever been to one?"
"No."
"Then how do you know you dread them?"
"I just know," you said. "I feel it in my bones. I know going will just get on my nerves."
He scoffed, placing his hands on his hips. "I think you're foolish for that," he said. "Come on. What are you losing? A couple hours to work on a project that you know you could finish in a morning session? You'll be fine. Come to the Ozdust tonight. I'll show you a good time."
You clenched your jaw. "I don't want—"
"—I would like you to be there. That is all. I won't ask again." He gave you another small smile before he looked away. "I'll see you around. Perhaps tonight?"
You stared him down. He would like to see you there? Was he being honest? And what of Galinda? Would he be going behind her back? Wasn't he madly in love with her, or something? Or was it the other way around?
He said your name once more, and you looked up at him, letting out a soft sigh.
"Right. Perhaps tonight," you softly said.
The smile on his lips was rather... hopeful than anything else. There wasn't anything smarmy by it. He seemed as genuine as the glint in his eye—the one he used when he spoke with anyone he trusted. At least, you hoped so.
The night came quickly as you finished up your outfit—one you would hope you didn't look completely foolish in. The color you chose seemed to fit well with almost anything, but you still worried. You always worried about something.
Time was of the essence. You weren't even supposed to leave Shiz University's campus, but here you were, sneaking like some scoundrel.
Well, perhaps you were, listening to the requests of a man who already had a girlfriend—a fantastically beautiful one at that.
But you paid no mind. You did what you could, and soon, you found yourself walking down the steps of the Ozdust Ballroom.
Never had you been in a place like this. It was almost... breathtaking, had it not been for the overpowering smells of perfume and some kind of drink wafting from the bar. Your eyes flitted from patron to patron until you finally spotted him—Fiyero.
He looked just as handsome as ever.
Good Oz, what in the world were you doing? This was foolish.
You took a step back, staring at Fiyero for a moment as he spoke with another man, drink in hand. You needed to leave. This was ridiculous. You were ridiculous! Never in a thousand years would you ever imagine yourself to do such a thing—
"You made it!"
Fiyero's voice rang out above the music.
You look to him, eyebrows furrowed in frustration. Because of course he saw you as soon as you had decided to leave.
Fiyero smiled and made his way to you, taking your hands in his, drink left with the confused man behind him. Surely he didn't just up and leave in the middle of his conversation.
You part your lips and go to speak, but to your dismay, Fiyero is instant.
"I was afraid you had changed your mind," he said. "You look ravishing, darling."
Your eyes widened. Ravishing? You'd been called many things in your life, but never ravishing.
"Galinda couldn't make it?" you asked.
"Wha—no, she couldn't. But what of it? I didn't ask her to the Ozdust, I asked you. I'm glad to see your face."
Warmth blossomed in your cheeks as you watched him. "Fiyero, please... I shouldn't be here."
"Oh, nonsense," he said, grinning all the while. "Come. Dance with me."
"But I don't—"
"—do not say you don't dance. I can teach you."
"Teach me?"
"It's as easy as breathing," he said.
"For you, maybe, but not for—"
"—humor me," he said, smiling.
You pursed your lips. Of course he had to give you that charming smile and the sweet bat of his eyelashes.
"I do not dance," you repeated.
"I think I will be the judge of that."
He grabbed your hands once more and pulled you out into the ballroom floor, smiling all the while.
"You'll be a natural. I can just see it."
"I feel like if I were a natural, you wouldn't have to teach me," you said, gasping as he pulled you close to his chest. His face was dangerously close to yours, his eyes flickering from your eyes to your lips.
"You know," he began, eyes flickering back to your eyes. "We all start somewhere, do we not? You should know that better than anyone."
"What? What does that—"
He interrupted you by spinning you by your arm, back into his embrace. The music was rather ambient, not quite one for dancing so enthusiastically, but Fiyero embraced it. Hand to your hand, face close to your face.
"See? A natural."
"You merely spun me around, Fiyero. Do not be foolish."
"You could have fell flat on your face," he said, a boyish grin evident on his lips.
"Stop looking at me like that," you defiantly said. "You are far too close to me for my liking."
"Oh, feisty, are we?" he asked, moving his body along to the music and forcing you to go along, too. You nearly stepped on his toes several times. "I do not think there is anything wrong with the way I'm looking at you. You're rather breathtaking, if I may."
Breathtaking. The same way you had described him only hours before. He wasn't a mind reader, was he?
No.
Of course not. That was foolish. He was merely a man. Nothing of great importance—no power within him other than the power he held in every single eyelash as they batted down at you, making you melt over and over again.
"What of Galinda?" you repeated.
"What of her?"
"You shouldn't be calling someone who isn't yours breathtaking. It's quite..."
"There is nothing wrong with admiring the beauty in front of me," he said, your name playfully leaving his tongue. "Look at me. Galinda and I are only friends."
You rolled your eyes. "Do not lie to me."
His eyes widened a bit. "Lie? I do not lie. We are friends and nothing more. Though I do believe she thinks differently..."
"She must," you said, huffing softly.
"But that does not make it true. I have eyes for someone else."
"Eyes for someone else?"
He tilted his head once more. He was rather endearing when he did that.
"Who did I ask to their very first party?" he asked, smiling. "It's quite a feat, isn't it? Afraid you wouldn't show, and then you do, questioning me and everything I stand for, hm?"
Warmth found its way to your cheeks once more. You looked away from him. With the crescendo of the music, Fiyero pulled you closer, fingers lacing with yours. His lips hover dangerously close to yours.
"You know, if you would just give it a chance, perhaps you and I could make some magic of our own."
You let out a curt laugh. "You—oh, good Oz, I hope you never use that line on anyone! Has that worked for you before?"
He gave a cheeky smile. "It seems like it's working on you."
"Absolutely not!"
"Not even a little!"
"No!"
His smile only seemed to grow. "Truly?"
You looked away, swallowing thickly. "I mean... no. Not even a little. Not at all."
"You're lying," he said.
"I am not."
"I do think I know what I'm talking about," he said, leaning forward and pressing a soft kiss to the soft skin of your cheek. "Come now," he said. "Stop with the lies."
You looked up at him, a soft huff escaping you.
"Fine. I lied. It may or may not be working. But it's not just because of what you said."
"Oh? Are you saying you like me for more than my suave words?"
"Suave words? Who in Oz said they were suave?"
He just smiled, his eyes flickering to your lips once more. "Do you think instead of just a dance, I could try something more?"
"Try what?"
"I think you know."
You blinked slowly at him, your fingers gently gripping onto his tunic. Your lips part in mild surprise, but you realize that you shouldn't have been. He'd been eyeing you the entire evening.
"Very well," you softly said.
"Wonderful," he replied, and in a swift motion, he pressed his lips to yours. It was short as he pulled back almost as soon as he had kissed you, but it was enough to keep you wanting more.
"Fiyero, that wasn't—"
"—come with me," he softly said, lacing his fingers with yours once more. "Somewhere without so many prying eyes, yes?"
Your answer was almost instant: "Yes."
Fiyero led you back up the staircase, and he didn't look back once at the ballroom.
"Where are we going?" you asked.
"Somewhere where I can see you and only you," he said. "If that's alright."
"Oh," you softly said. "Yes. That's alright."
"Then follow me," he said. "Do you trust me?"
You smiled sincerely for one of the first times in the evening. Did you trust him? What kind of foolish question was that? If you had the chance, you'd do whatever he'd ask of you. You found your answer rather quickly, knowing within yourself that it was far truer than any other statement you had ever uttered.
"With all the power in Oz."

Wicked
Hello everyone! I'm so proud to announce my first contribution to the Metalsandwich Movie Mania (@now-showing-at-the-hawk-events) event!
I wrote it in a rush, without a real plan in my mind just because I cound't lose this occasion, so please let me know if you have suggestions or critics :)
The first prompt is Musical Movie post-2000 and I chose Wicked, my favourite musical presented in Broadway im 2003 and still played worldwide. I saw it live in March and what an experience!! A movie is planned for December 2024 and I'm looking forward for it.
As the event is MetalsandWITCH, I tried to find a twist for our three golden boys so, let me know if you like it! A huge thanks to @dame-zoom-a-lot for betaing it with a really short notice, for her wonderful suggestion, edits and ideas that really, really improved this silly little fic.
Read it in AO3
Pairing: Steve Harrington/Billy Hargrove/Eddie Munson Cast: Billy Hargrove as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West Eddie Munson as Glinda, the Good Witch Steve Harrington as Fiyero, prince of Wickie Karen Wheeler as Madame Morrible Eleven "Jane" Hopper as Dorothy Gale Rating: Mature WC: 9797
"Steve followed him and hugged him from behind, resting his crotch firmly on Billy’s bottom and dancing and grinding with him. He then leaned his lips on Billy’s neck and kissed it. Billy jumped, but Eddie winked at him, so he arched his neck and exposed his skin to the prince. When Eddie reached them, they sat in a corner together, with their drinks, and they talked of silliness, looking at each other intensely. Eddie put a hand on Billy’s leg, tilting the tights and trying to break it. Prince Steve gazed at him like he was something… precious. Billy didn’t used to be shy, but he was used to fighting for his place and for being seen and believed, and in that moment it seemed to him he didn’t have to struggle for being where he wanted"

Wicked headcannon
Elphaba isn’t allergic to water- she’s scared of it.
When she was a young child, Nanny tried to drown her. And Elphaba’s mother was never sober due to taking a variety of herbs and alcohol (which young Elphaba would interpret to be water because it’s clear). So it creates this deep rooted trauma in her mind that manifests as a deep fear of water.
This phobia is to the point that she sometimes panics and feels pain when water touches her even though it’s not causing actual damage (neuroplasticity but in reverse!).
And we also see this manifest in her behavior- she doesn’t wash her hair often so it’s usually tied up due to be oily. He clothes are ragged because they aren’t rinsed in water enough to avoid getting stiff from soap, and she tries to harshly rub the stiffness out with a wash board causing the fabric to ware.
Before Shiz, her nails always have white flour or dirt under them from avoiding excess time washing her hands. So she starts wearing gloves whenever she does the chores to stop needing to wash her hands. (Nessa thinks it’s to hide the green, Frex just is thankful it’s actually hiding the green)
Fiyero comes barging into Elphaba’s life, and comes from a diverse region where water is sometimes rare. And he’s sympathetic to her avoidance of water. He quickly learns she won’t talk about it, and takes his suggestions as criticism of her hygiene. (She uses coconut oil to wash her self, baking soda to clean her hair and teeth, and milk to bath in when necessary thank you very much)
Realizing she likes books and learning, he starts slowly suggesting some anthropological books about the dry regions of the Vinkus, knowing she would eventually read about the recorded water alternatives. He also starts practicing some of the techniques he grew up with- like using oil to clean his hands and tools, using powders to clean up spills, using dry exfoliation, etc, so that she will learn by observation. And also she will figure out that he knows stuff that might be helpful for her.
Time skip- Fiyero and Elphaba are together and he’s learning more and more about her everyday. In a vulnerable moment, she shares her fear of water and how she was drowned as a child, and everything clicks into place for him.
So he slowly introduces her to water in a positive way- using it to cool his canteen from the inside and then setting it against her face when it’s got outside. Or using it to water color berry paint pictures on rocks for her (because of course he does and it’s cute af), and eventually using it to comb out and detangle her hair for her without the water touching her scalp but it feeling very good.
And little by little coaxing her to jump into puddles with him, to enjoy the sound of rain while they are sheltered, to look forward to the rainbows.
Eventually he gets her to walk through a stream (previously he would carry over over because that’s hot af ngl), and then again but barefoot, and then they are wading into shallow water, but never putting their heads under. Fiyero takes the opportunity to make these good experiences (*wink wink*), and also starts to help her wash her hair without submerging her head. He even braids her hair while it’s wet so it dries in controlled waves that she adores.
He also makes sure their drinking water doesn’t look like the clear alcohol her mother drank- mixing berries and roots into it to change its taste and color.
And in return, she is in charge of the fires and kindling while they camp since he’s afraid of it.

“Here's the truth: there is no beginning. There is no end. There simply is, because that is what it is to live, events tangled like spider-silk in dawn's light. No causation or correlation or reason, just a series of mistakes and apologies and beautiful, breath-taking moments that combine over years, over eons, until suddenly you're blinking and it's all rushing past you, memories like grains of sand through an hourglass, and time's up—”

Positions in Life Ch. 6 by @wickedobsessed101 a.k.a Fae'sFlower AO3/FFN
The purple-vested men stepped further into the light. The first thing Elphaba noticed, other than his long, black dreadlocks and ochre skin, was some type of blue tattoos going down his right cheek and neck and vanishing underneath his unbuttoned shirt. She couldn't make out exactly what the markings were, but they looked like tiny diamonds. He looked up at the Munchkin flag atop the carriage, then back at Elphaba. He tilted his head, and Elphaba assumed he was curious about her skin.
Fiyero arriving on a horse to meet Elphaba has been living rent free in my mind.

Wishing Only Wounds the Heart…
I wrote this one shot within the last 24 hours (wow that’s impressive by my standards). I came up with the prompt myself. It’s from Glinda’s point of view. Anyways, hope you enjoy. PROMPT: HOW GLINDA IS COPING AFTER ELPHABA’S “DEATH”, AND HER PERSPECTIVE ON WHAT HAPPENED THE DAY SHE LOST HER BEST FRIEND.
A heaving sigh escaped my lungs as I entered the palace, returning from the most recent public gathering. The instant the doors closed behind me, I allowed my smile to drop, returning to my ever-persistent state of depression.
Keeping up the façade was a challenge at first, but over time, it had become somewhat of a reflex. No Ozian was ever to see how my mental state was slowly disintegrating with each passing moment.
Showcasing the truth, my misery, would only evoke suspicion from the citizens therefore, whenever I find myself in the public eye, a plastic smile I weld unto my face.
It was best this way. It was safer too. But there was a time not so long ago, where these smiles weren’t so forced or disingenuous, where sadness was an emotion I hardly experienced.
My state of mind hadn’t begun to deteriorate until the depression took over. And the depression didn’t start until that fateful day, when everything I ever cared about was taken from me.
What made things worse was that everything was all my fault.
Sweet Oz, how I wish I could turn back the clock.
I wish I’d had the courage to disprove the rumours.
I wish I’d had the brains to take back my words prompting her sister’s death.
I wish I’d had the heart to stop the witch hunters.
I wish I’d never made that promise to her as not to clear her name.
But most of all, I wish she was alive…
~~~
The haunting silhouette of her shadow fades, and her cries subdue. A deafening silence washes over, and I hear only my own shuddering breaths against my palm.
Frozen, I find myself unable to move the trembling hand from my mouth, or wipe the tears rolling down my pale cheeks, until a sudden gust of cold wind blows through the castle, and shocks me out of my transfixed state.
I stumble out from my hiding spot behind the drapes.
“Elphie?” I brokenly whisper.
No response.
I feel my stomach drop as I reach out to pull open the curtain, longing for nothing more than to be met with the familiar green tint of her emerald skin.
The curtain opens, and there’s nothing.
The room is empty.
Through my tear-clouded vision, I notice a familiar object on the floor. It takes less than a moment to recognise what it is as I reach down, and gently pick it up.
The hideodeous hat. Her hat.
“Oh, Elphie!” I sob, clutching the limp brown piece of cloth to my body, allowing myself to completely break down, finally accepting the events of which I had just unknowingly witnessed mere moments ago.
Elphie had been killed.
She’s gone.
I’ll never get to see her again…
~~~
“Miss Glinda?” came the voice of Chistery, flying overhead in the hallway before perching on the diamond-encrusted chandelier.
It was seconds after Elphaba had parted for good that the two of us had formally met. Seeing his gentle soul, which he had no doubt mirrored from Elphie, I made it my goal to help him the way she had tried to. I’d taught him how to speak. The day he’d finally managed to form a complete sentence without fail, I knew Elphie was proud, despite not being there to witness it.
“Is something troubling you?” Chistery asked, flying down from the chandelier to the floor.
Chistery’s words brought myself back to reality, and I vigorously shook my head in an attempt to snap myself out of the memories from the dreaded day.
Thankfully, Chistery was aware of my emotional struggles so understandably, hiding my sudden bout of tears from him was not a problem. Silently nodding at him, I wiped a fallen tear from my cheek and made my way to my room.
Despite its grandeur and spaciousness, I constantly felt confined within these bedroom walls. It simply didn’t compare to the coziness that had come with the previously shared dorm room with Elphie; one of the very few fond memories I still clutched onto.
After removing my tiara, wand, and ridding myself of the suffocating gown, my gaze wandered to my closet. I eyed the quoxwood doors and momentarily hesitated, before deciding to open them with a creak and reach in, pulling out the familiar cone-shaped object from the hidden depths of the wardrobe.
‘I thought you might wanna wear this hat to the party tonight!’
The words of my formerly happy younger self rang in my ears, as I brought the tattered thing to my chest. One of the last things I had left of her.
I couldn’t bring myself that day to simply leave it in Kiamo Ko. I had initially tried to, but doing so felt as though I was leaving a fragment of myself behind. And I was broken enough as it was.
It was the only thing that sparked a sense of comfort within me. The incredibly faint smell of her scented oils still lingered on the fabric. It felt familiar. It felt comforting.
As I did every single day, I clenched my eyes shut and sunk to the floor, rocking back and forth on my knees, with the hat pressed tightly against myself, my endless river of tears soaking the headpiece.
“Elphie please, I need you. I’m broken.” I weeped, gently stroking the matte material of the hat.
“I wish you would come back to me.” I whispered.
Almost instantaneously, a creak from a floorboard came from the other side of the door, followed by a barely audible knock. Snapping my head in the direction of the door, I let out a sharp breath and arose.
It couldn’t be…could it?
Slowly, I approached the doorway, the most minuscule smile twitching at the corners of my mouth, and turned the knob until it clicked. Trembling, I gently opened the door.
“Miss Glinda, your presence is requested regarding a matter of dispute between the citizens.”
It was a guard.
My barely-visible smile dropped, and my heart somehow managed to sink even deeper than it already had.
I assume he noticed my switch in demeanour, for his emotionless face morphed into that of concern.
“Your Goodness? Are you alright?”
“I-I thought for a second that she was…” I had began to mumble, before letting a small sigh escape through my nose. Plastering on my false smile, I looked back at the guard.
“Of course. Tell them to expect me in a clock-tick.” I replied, nodding my head before closing the door.
After hearing his footsteps fade, I turned to rest my back against the door, and found myself sliding down the wood. It wasn’t until moments later that I even realised I was sobbing once again, hugging my knees as I sat, broken on the floor.
Not all wishes come true, I suppose…
And SCENE! So yeah, did you find that sad? I thought I did a pretty terrible job at it. If you’re confused about what exactly happened, go to the replies section, I’ve written a ‘brief’ explanation.

Wicked Fic Update!
For real this time! I have finished the 16th chapter of my ongoing incredibly slow burn Gelphie fic, A Second Chance (to Get it All Wrong)!
Sorry this one took so long, but I hope you enjoy the courtroom shenanigans. We’ve got drama, we’ve got intrigue, we’ve got pining, we’ve got a horrible scarecrow. It’s great, everyone loves these things.
Here’s the link if you wanna check it out! One more chapter to wrap up this arc, and then we’ll be entering Phase 3 of the story with more Gelphie action or your money back, guaranteed.

Kids say the darnedest things~
In the 1939 Wizard of Oz movie, we've seen Scarecrow getting torn up and patched back together, no big deal, right? And I've read plenty of fanfics where Scarecrow/Fiyero does some basic maintenance of having to patch himself back up, usually very gradually over time.
So, like, how does that all work? What does being a magically enchanted scarecrow entail? How much of him can be removed/replaced and it will still be him? How much of his original body, if any, needs to be present for his consciousness to transfer over???
Please point on the magic scarecrow where the sentience is located.
These are questions that are never meant to be thought about very hard, yet think about them very hard I shall.
And now so shall Fiyero, the poor bastard.
